Savvy Shopping Tips

A pivotal part of being a savvy shopper is understanding the quality-cost relationship. The fact of the matter is that there is, at minimum, a 50% markup on everything that we buy full-price. Cosmetics, especially, have the highest markup, usually hitting about 80%. We have to be smart shoppers, and that means learning what to splurge on and what to pass on.

As my style began to evolve nearly a year or so ago, I stopped shopping because I knew that the purchases I made then would probably not be as great to me down the line. My style truly evolved a full 180 degrees. I favored the colorful, over-the-top, quirky, Betsey Johnson-esque styles, and now I am totally into tailored, crisp looks from the likes of Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein. In that time, I did a lot of thrifting, which was fun, but also cost-efficient. I can't cry about giving something away that only cost me $3. Below are a few shopping tips that will help you to spare a few coins in the new year:

Tip #1: Shop off-season.

As far as shopping at traditional retailers, it's important to know how to shop. I'm a huge fan of shopping off-season because you catch great deals. Also, fashion changes before the seasons in Chicago, so when summer clothes go on sale around July, for example, we are just hitting the heat wave! The same goes for winter too. Besides, if you know how to layer clothing, you can wear some pieces year-round!

Tip #2: Know that sale cycle for your favorite retailer(s).

One of my favorite stores used to be Wet Seal. I came to find that every three weeks or so, their merchandise would turn over to sale; and when they had sales, they had SALES! My favorite was 'Buy One, Get One for a Penny.' I also would get nice coats and jackets for $7-$15. Based on the quantity that they have and popularity of the style, you can usually tell whether or not it will be there in a few weeks. Some things you may want to grab right away, but for most, you can wait.

Tip #3: Shop around.

Many retailers use the same manufacturers. I have seen identical merchandise in Akira and A'GACI with the latter being $12-$20 less. If you favor any retailers that carry the same type of products, check out both stores before making a big purchase. In popular shopping areas, the stores are probably within close proximity of each other.

Tip #4: Know which stores you should never shop at without coupons/special offers.

I'm not a fan of credit card frenzy, but it's sometimes worth it to sign-up with select retailers that you frequent because you will save money. Ann Taylor and Macy's are two stores that always have special offers for their cardholders. Be careful not to go overboard with spending though. The rule is to pay your balance in full each month. Charge it, then pay it right off.

Also, Express ALWAYS has a coupon out, so don't shop without one. They also let you combine special deals. Charlotte Russe gives a 10% student discount. The Limited offers 15% off for Teachers/Educators. Do a little research especially when shopping online. The Google search engine is only a click away.

Dr. Juanita Bynum is a very influential woman in ministry. As I was researching her story and looking at her transformation over time, I found this recent image of her. I really like this photo because so often, women in ministry look dated. I really despise most of the wardrobe choices of gospel artists because it is either over-the-top or frumpy. I don't understand why the issue of image remains a challenge after all these years.

Just because you're saved doesn't mean that you have to dress like a prude. Dr. Bynum is now 50, but this image has a youthful feel without looking like she's trying to hard. I love the relaxed look of the denim shirt and the accessory choices. Well done.

I love everything about this Fendi S/S 2012 ad campaign from the fun, yellow background to the artistic statue. I love that the looks are feminine and playful, yet effortlessly sexy. The hairstyle really sets it off to me - the 'fresh out of bed,' messy up-do. The color palette is awesome too. Nicely done, Fendi.

Best Shopping Day Ever

This was my best shopping day ever. Unique Thrift Store in Merriville, Indiana was going out of business, and on their last day, they had a very special sale - whatever you could fit in a bag for $1! I got 6 bags of clothing for $6. It was unbelievable.

I am a blazer fanatic, so of course that section is where I spent most of my time. I scored on labels like Tommy Hilfiger, Ann Taylor LOFT, and Banana Republic. Everything was in very good condition too! My steal of the day was the teal Lanvin Paris shirt. Like really, who gives that away?!!! Their trash, my treasure.

Thrifting has so many perks. The most obvious is that you save tons of money, but otherwise, you find unique pieces that you won't see other people in. If you have any creativity, you can create hot looks with your thrift store finds! Some tips for thrifting:

Go early - On Mondays, Unique has a half price deal. Get there close to opening time, so that you can have first dibs on the good stuff.
Shop your fashion mags first - Fashion recycles, so you're likely to find some pieces that could be considered "on trend" even though they are retro. Use your fashion mags as inspiration for your thrifting extravaganza.
Consider the neighborhood - The location of the thrift store that you choose oftentimes plays a significant role in the quality and styles of the clothing that you will find. Start with the more wealthy neighborhoods. You'll even find brand new clothing with tags on it!

I definitely can be a lot better as far as keeping up with what's new. Nonetheless, my friend asked my opinion about the Karl Lagerfeld window at Macy's on State, and I replied, "haven't seen it."

Well if there's anyone that hasn't seen it like me, here's a few of my favorite photos from the 45-piece limited edition collection that debuted on August 31st. The silhouettes are very sophisticated like those you'd see on the runways of Chanel. Sleeveless turtlenecks, printed blouses, Peter Pan collars, faux crocodile accents and splashes of color is what to expect from this Macy's designer collaboration. The collection runs from $50 to $170.

Designer collaborations have become very popular among major retailers in the past few years. As a result of the economic downturn, high-end designers tapped into the mass market to make up the loss of revenue on the higher end. These collaborations make regular ole people feel like they are apart of the fashion "in" crowd. We all deserve to be fashionable, right???

I'm a huge fan of Calvin Klein. The tailoring is impeccable. My style philosophy favors the "less is more" approach. The garments mimic the sharp angles of Lara Croft's well-defined bone structure making for a very sexy, yet masculine look. Above all else, there is no compromise for a great fit.

This is by far one of my favorite ad campaigns of the season. I usually flip through magazines rather rapidly, but I stop and analyze these ads every time...

I love that Dolce & Gabbana features menswear and womenswear looks all modeled by women! I also really like the unconventional pattern mixes. One usually associates stars and music note patterns with youthful dress, but the designers of Dolce & Gabbana were successful in making these elements appear high fashion.

It's an interesting ad all around, and that's what fashion is about. Aaja Corinne approves.

Kanye West Makes His Fashion Debut

Last week, Rapper Kanye West debuted his Spring 2012 Women's Ready-to-Wear Collection in Paris. The collection, like the rapper's personality, is excessive in nature. Furs. Metallics. Zippers. Extremely open necklines. Kanye's collection featured so many different styles that the target audience wasn't easily identifiable. I can only assume that it is designed for the socialite woman with bold style.

Kanye's collection has received mixed reviews from critics. My main criticism is that the garments are poorly fit. The woman's body is very intricate, and designers that are most successful are the ones that grasp hold of that concept (i.e. Ralph Lauren, Oscar De la Renta, Lanvin).

I think that Kanye West would be very successful is he created a menswear line. His innovative ideas would translate well on the fashion scene. Can't wait to see what he does next!

New in My Closet!

I went on shopping hiatus for about a year and I'm proud to say that it made me a smarter shopper. I now look for clothing that has longevity and that I can wear more than one way. I'm saying it like it's a new epiphany, but it's what I should've been doing all along...

Anywho, I asked myself, "what's your style?" I never really though about it. I just always buy whatever is cute. I'm noticing that I like a tailored look with funky accessory accents, pops of color and bold patterns. Because I have a wide waist, I look best in structured dresses and blazers with a slim fitting jean. Shorts are my friend. I love high heels that elongate my figure, preferably booties or pumps. And fedoras or big scarves to frame my face. It's important for every lady to know what works best for them and what features to play up.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: shop everywhere! I get my graphic tees from Walmart, shoes from A'GACI, jeans from Kohl's and Express, dresses from Akira, statement pieces from Unique Thrift Store and jewelry and basics from Forever 21. While it's possible to have a one stop shop, I definitely recommend shopping around.

I also purchased some black "nerd" frames from A'GACI for $5.50, a pair of Levi's Distressed Bootcut Denim from Kohl's for $46 and the Skyscraper Skinny Jean from Express, originally $79.90, but $47 with all the discounts I received. One thing I love about Express is that they let you combine special offers:-)

For $300, I purchased two pairs of jeans, two pairs of shorts, a dress, three jackets, two blazers, a graphic tank top, fashion frames, Toms and miscellaneous accessories and basics. I'm proud to be a smart shopper!

Label Junkies

Today, my client begged me to hold a pair of True Religions for her until Friday...a pair of jeans that were two sizes too big. Why? Because she's a label junkie.

The problem with label junkies is that they get hold of one or two names and make them the end all of fashion. People speak of Prada, Gucci, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Fendi like they are the only designer labels that ever existed. They thirst for a single item to validate them...Chanel earrings or a Louis Vuitton belt. If you can't afford to go in either of those boutiques and blow money, what's the point?

My niche in fashion is style on a budget. I find great pleasure in finding a good deal. I also understand that hefty price tags don't ensure quality. All retail stores mark up their merchandise at least 50% and popular brands charge extra for the name.

Because my client was so animate about those True Religion jeans, I gave her a fitting room to try them on. Then, I brought her another pair of designer denim, Mavi, to try on in her size. She loved them, but had never heard of the brand before. Because she only hears about True Religions, she had to have a pair by any means necessary.

Don't be a label junkie. Do your research! You'll find that a lot of retail stores have the same vendors, so compare prices! In regards to designer denim, I have a few recommendations:

Genetic - Feels like a jegging...uber comfy!
J Brand - For the petite woman.
Serfontaine - For the curvy woman. LYCRA GALORE!
Mavi - Less expensive than most designer denim, but great fit.

Take my advice. Style triumps trend any day. Happy shopping! :-)

I think that Marc Jacobs did an amazing job on his Spring 2011 RTW collection. He uses big flowers throughout his collection, which is the ultimate statement of feminism and elegance. I particularly love his use of monochromatic colors and rich hues such as gold, purple and red.

Take some tips from him this season on how to wear head-to-toes nudes and monochromatic looks. This spring you have plenty of options. Have fun!

I think you guys know that I'm opposed to paying a lot of money for anything. Luckily, I've come to find that through all my search, the jeans that fit me best are Forever 21's $9.50 skinny jean! Amazing, right?! I love them because I have long legs, and I hate too short denim! They offer 30" and 32"inseams.

Denim is something that is so particular to its wearer. Seldom do you find a pair of perfect length or one that you don't have to wear a belt with. I'm not a huge fan of designer denim, but I've come to find that Paige's Lou Lou Tulip Jean is PERFECT for tall and thin figures. One of the best fits that I've ever seen. Here is some footage of my latest work! This is the promotional photoshoot for an upcoming fashion show that I'm working on. Fashion Elite Modeling Organization of Columbia College Chicago presents "Fashion Take-off" Friday, March 4, 2011, 1104 S. Wabash, 7p!

The clothing was styled using a color palette of black, grey, blue, red and pink. My vision was to do an edgy, urban, everyday look. One of my favorite looks is Jasmine's blue/black colorblocked ensemble. Sequined leggings and pumps can transform a casual cardigan! I have to give it up to Keyshia for always looking flawless. Her hair color has always been a favorite of mine, and her makeup, too, is on point. For Prom, the makeup artist did my eyes like Keyshia's on the cover of Vibe magazine.

This photograph is pictured on the cover of her latest album "Calling All Hearts." I am a HUGE fan of color, and I love the blue lips against the red hair with just a touch of smoky eye. Her look is so glam and edgy.

I believe that to be great, you have to study the greats. Whatever you do, know your craft, so that you can be the best that you can be.

I know that one of my strengths as a fashion stylist is working with color. I LOVE colors, but if you don't blend them correctly, too many of them at once can look tacky. They have to be used in such a way that the eye moves gracefully around your entire look.

Lately, I've also been paying close attention to fit. A cute, ill fitting garment simply won't cut it. I try on everything, even t-shirts. A good fit goes a long way.

I have two friends that are THE dopest. They are twins, and I love them because they are a one-stop shop. They are hair stylists, makeup artists, dancers, models, graphic designers, and they are great at everything! One thing I love about them is that they always leave the house ready for the red carpet and a photo. They always look amazing, and inspired me to create this list of pieces that will make or break your wardrobe:

Good pair of shoes - You can wear an inexpensive outfit with nice shoes, but not the other way around. Cheap shoes will make or break your outfit. They are worth the investment because you will get a lot of wear out of them. For starters, have a basic pair and a few funky pairs to spice up solid pieces.
Wide belt - A big belt helps to accentuate your waistline and highlight your feminine shape. It also works well when pairing skirts and tops to unify the two.
Basics - Honestly, you can build your wardrobe with simple, GOOD FITTING, tops, bottoms, dresses, etc. You dress them up with blazers, accessories, fun shoes, etc.
Accessories - Have a wide assortment of accessories on hand. They will completely transform your look.

Dressing For Your Body Type

It's quite disturbing to see how many women are not comfortable with their bodies. I was dressing a client at work, and she wanted to wear a miniskirt with thigh-high boots. She tried on a ton and finally said, "Ewww...I look disgusting. I don't want to try on anything else." The point is that many women don't embrace their bodies because they don't know how to dress for their body type. Every woman is not a size 2, and that's ok! Slim, tall, shapely, petite..there is something for everyone that will make people say, "wow."

If you know that you're going shopping for something important like your birthday outfit, come prepared to try on clothes, meaning have your hair neat and bring your body shaper if necessary! It's so easy to get caught up in not looking put together, that you can't envision yourself in the garment.

Secondly, don't just try on one or two things...give yourself options! You'll discover what hemlines you prefer, what necklines are most flattering, and what materials are best. Also, know that the hanger doesn't do all garments justice. Give it a try!

Lastly, don't be afraid to ask the sales associate for help! They know what the store has to offer, and hopefully, some style knowledge as well. They get paid to help, so let them! On that same note, just because it is someone's job doesn't mean that you should be rude or demanding in any way. Show respect, get respect.

Of course, the traditional smoky eye will always be classic, but spice things up this season with a splash of color! I suggest trying metallic with a hint of blue...

Now, a few more beauty philosophies from the mind of Aaja Corinne...

Eyeliner is my one must-have other than lip gloss. It has saved me many-a-days from appearing sleep deprived. I recently learned how to draw it on the top lid (I thought it was a lot harder), and it's so chic! I recommend and eyeliner crayon. Mary Kay carries and assortment of colors for $10 each. They last forever.
In the summer, I love bold colored nail polishes - lime green, yellow, orange. In the winter season, I love deep colors...anything that looks close to black like dark purple. OPI has a great selection of those shades. I just picked up black with green sparkles at Forever 21 for $2.80!
Neat hair, a fresh face, and manicured nails are like a blank canvas waiting for you to create! These are things that seem optional, but are really apart of basic hygiene. It makes your life easier. We all know how women either hate or love everything they try on at the mall depending on how good their hair looks...
Lastly, always add a touch of femininity. A hair piece is a great way to do it. Maybe a statement ring or a string of pearls. #TeamLadylikeBehavior

I have a big family, so I'm doing Christmas on a budget this year. I'm determined not to spend beyond my means or break my pockets, so I'm hooking it up with great finds from the Thrift, useful knick-knacks from the dollar store, and anything else that I can find at a great price! I thought that I'd share my top five favorite stores with you all. I'm sure that you'll like them too!

1) Unique Thrift Store
Half-priced Mondays are a Godsend! I just got a floor-length faux fur coat during my last visit for only $25! It makes me feel extra luxurious.

2) Dollar Tree
You can find so much useful stuff in there. I always shop for toiletries, makeup and school supplies there, but they have a TON of other stuff. They have great holiday-themed merchandise right now!

3) Akira
This isn't my favorite store because I work there..lol. They have amazing stuff for both men and women. This boutique is only in Chicago, and the stuff is so edgy. Don't go there to find anything basic. This store is only for those who want to stand out.

4) Forever 21
They have everything at a great price. Point. Blank. Period.

5) ?
I thought I had five! I'm leaving this slot open for any place that you can find a great deal.

In light of the holiday season, I thought that I'd share some savvy shopping tips:

 Do not spend beyond your means.

 Create a monthly budget and avoid impulse buys.

 Buy items before you run out of them.

 Know the sales cycles in your favorite stores.

 If you won’t use it, don’t buy it…even if the price is right…

 Know that larger stores usually have lower prices than smaller ones.

 Feeling emotional? If so, back away from the credit card.

 Buy at the end of the season.

 Stock up when prices are low.

 Do shop at thrift stores, consignment shops, and garage/yard sales.

 Shop everywhere, so you can find the best deals.

 Do your homework on prices. Competing stores may carry the same or similar merchandise.

 Make friends with the store clerk for first dibs on information about upcoming sales and shopping events.

 Sign up for e-mail updates from your favorite stores. They always try to lure you in with a discount or promotion.

 Know that you do pay more for fancy packaging.

 Don’t be afraid of the generic brand. Sometimes, there is not much difference.

 Know that Dollar Tree is that business! And yes, they do carry a diverse assortment of name brand goods.

I was out yesterday looking through the stores of Chicago Ridge Mall, and I saw so many cute boots! Fall is most definitely here. My dilemma is that I love boots, but they are always so expensive! I fell in love with three pair, and for the most part, they are moderately priced...

These babies are from Discovery...only $17! They are available in purple, black, and grey, and they look super cute with tights. An affordable style that looks like quality.

These lace-up boots are from Charlotte Russe. They make for a great blend of rugged/feminine, and would be a cool piece to explore this season's military trend. Try them with a flowy dress or cargo pants to really play up the contrast. I'd even consider a fur vest! These boots are $40, but you can get a second pair of shoes (equal or lesser value) for $15!

I've been searching ALL OVER for a pair of combat boots that I like....the "Soldier" boot from Bakers is perfect! I'd throw them on with anything. They will toughen up any look. Available in brown and black, $89.95.

Shopping. The only thing missing is the stunna shades! We tried a couple things with this look. First, we tried the shirt on the shoulders with a necklace as opposed to earrings. Then, we tried metallic pumps instead of flats. Trial and error. You have to play around until you get a look you love! The color spectrum is what really does it for me. Each of the bangles and the earrings reflect a color in the top. The metallic flats and brown satchel add depth to the look by taking away some of the "brightness." Time to hit the town!

Girly, girl. Stephanie recently pledged AKA and has a ton of events coming up. This would be cute for a nice dinner or Saturday affair. The necklace brought the dress and the shoes together because the beads in the gold chain are purple and pink. I added the colored bangles to accent the necklace. Because Stephanie has short hair, larger earrings work well. I chose gold earrings to offset the color and compliment the gold chain.

When blending colors, you want to see the colors in multiple places across the look. That's how you wear tons of color without looking like Bozo. If it's in your bottom half, you want it to be in your top half, at least 2-3 places even if only hints. It makes your look cohesive.

Also, the reason why my style is so versatile is because I create "looks." In saying that I mean that you have a clear image of what mood the look communicates to you. I chose those shoes for the dress because the ruffles and bows were a good match.

My friend, Stephanie, called on me to help her put together some looks. She has the "I have all this stuff, but nothing to wear syndrome." There are some basic pieces that I have found will bring your entire wardrobe together:

1) Metallic shoes - I have oxfords, flats, pumps, sneakers. I wear so many colors on a day-to-day basis that I just need a neutral shoe to offset it.

2) Dark denim skinnies - They are a must for the night scene, but also work with most looks. A good pair of denim that fits you well and has good elasticity is worth investing in.

3) Layered Necklaces - Sometimes you just need that extra "ummph" to your outfit. I often find that through necklaces. I'm into chains and pearls.

4) Bangles Galore - A variety, so you can mix 'n' match. It gives your outfit flavor.

5) "Stunna" shades :-) - So you can play incognito because the people love you!!!

This is just a chill, hitting the streets look. Very simple, but just because your bumming around doesn't mean that you shouldn't look cute!!!

Dirty Laundry

I just feel like writing. Lately, I've been getting ORDER in my life. One messy area will affect the rest, so we have to address the mess.

I started by cleaning out my closet. It's necessary because you're left only with things that you like and that fit well. It makes getting dressed a ton easier. Random tip, but I reccommend getting dressed spontaneously. The creativity factor operates so much better that way.

My cousins and the other young ladies at my church really love to get the clothes I don't wear anymore. It makes me smile...I got them spoiled though because they will ask me for something when I got it on! LOL. It's cool though...God blesses and so we bless others. I did my laundry on my day off, and I couldn't believe all the clothes that were piled up! Layering gets you into trouble. I guess the craziest part was still having full racks and full drawers without that stuff, so yeah...I'm blessed. The power of sale shopping. More for the buck.

The next area of my life that I had to clean up was the relationships. It has to come a point in time when you let that person go once and for all! How dare I sit around and waste life crying and dying over someone that has moved on??!!! :-0 I'm too good for that. Yeah, I said it! I need my ladies to have more self esteem. You have to know your worth or else you'll settle for anything. Also, I reccommend writing down exactly what you want in a man so that you have a basis to judge whether or not a guy is worth your time. Steve Harvey said, "you want a partner, not a project!" That's so real! You don't need to make someone into the person that you want them to be. If they are not it, they are not for you. You can't change people. They have to want to change for themselves...

Finances, finances, finances. I quit one of my jobs because I wanted to do something more enjoyable and relevant to my career goals, but now it's time to get there. Pinching pennies is no joke, and I never, EVER, EVVVEEERRRR want to go through this stage again though I'm certain that hard work and God's favor will carry me through. Debbie Allen said opportunity comes when you're most prepared. You can be the most talented person ever, but if you don't do anything with it, who will know? Successful people are always willing to help hardworking individuals, so if you do your part, you will see the doors opening before you! It all starts with a plan though. You have to have a plan...

The second most important area of your life to get in order is definitely the social circle. How can you expect to reach new heights if you hang with a bunch of people that constantly pull you down??? I was conversing with some friends that really inspired me because of all the exciting things that were going on in your life. That's how you should feel after hanging with your friends, inspired and motivated, not complacent. Delete numbers, change your number, do whatever, but you have to press forward! You don't want another year to go by without accomplishing the things you set out to do.

THE MOST IMPORTANT AREA OF YOUR LIFE TO GET IN ORDER IS YOUR PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS!!! God is a God of decency and order, so we can't come to him any kind of way and expect to get the results we want. Build your life around him, and stop trying to fit him in, and trust me, he knows that you're busy, but his word says that if you draw near to him, he'll draw near to you. We complicate things by trying to do them ourselves instead of letting our steps be ordered by the Lord...

Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not to thine own understanding. Acknowledge him in all your ways, and he shall direct thy path."

...Your destiny is already written out, so your job is not to figure it out, but rather go to God for instructions. Study your WORD! How can you serve God if you don't know him? How can you claim his promises if you don't know what they are? How can you know who you are in him if you don't know him? The Bible is the manual for life. To learn any job, you have to study the manual. Study your Word!!!

Also, make an appointment with God that you faithfully keep. This is a time for you to spend in prayer and receiving divine instructions. It's necessary. You have to have order in your prayer life so you can prosper.

I know that was a lot, but I felt like writing. I hope that telling of my life's experiences has sparked something within you to clean up the mess. Spring Cleaning: Life Edition is what it is. We still have 6 months left until 2011. Let's do it right. :-)

I originally had on a fur vest and studded flats, but it really wasn't doing it for me. At the last minute I switched my shoes and outerwear and here you go!

Besides hating my facial expression, I really like this photo! It was a shoot for a resale shop in Hyde Park, Aromatic Synsation, 6540 S. Cottage Grove Ave. In addition to clothing and accessories, they sell aroma lamps, body oils and custom fragrances. Shout out to the owner, Makali Robinson!

We could pick any of the pieces and put them together at our discretion. The jeans, camisole, and pearls are my own, but the jackets and hat are the boutique's.

The color spectrum of the jackets are very similar so the pattern mix gave it a funky twist. I thought the hat picked up the earth tone accents and also gave it a crisp look. The pearls gave it a feminine touch, and the blue wall was the perfect background!!!!

I am no respector of stores. I believe that you can find cool stuff everywhere. I must admit that one of my favorite stores is DOLLAR TREE! Now, let me say that every dollar store is not the same. You have some that are "dollar plus" stores. At Dollar Tree, everything is $1! They have so much amazing stuff, even have brand names that you can find elsewhere...

I think that some people are influenced by price, but let me tell you that expensive does not always equal quality. Know that you are paying for the name, especially with over-the-counter cosmetics that have about an 80% markup!

Let me ask you...If you have on eyeshadow, is someone going to identify it as Chanel? Probably not. There are some things that you can save yourself the money on. You have to consider it on a case-by-case basis. I actually do think Mac products are distinct in appearance. It just depends...

Some people think it's weird that I'm anti-designer labels. I just hate seeing cardboard cutouts, you know? I don't hate all labels, but my point is that just because it's Prada doesn't make it cute or quality.

Think about it.

H & M is having an AWESOME sale. Most of the stuff is $5-$20, and they have a selection of 50% off stuff as well. There are a lot of cute jackets on sale..sequined ones...military-inspired ones. You have to check it out!!! I got a pair of blue hightop sneakers for $10! Blue is like red to me. I don't like clothes in those colors, but I love to use them as accents with shoes and accessories! Random observation...

Amazing shopping experience today. There were so many good deals because of the awesome weather this week. Today, I shopped New York & Company's storewide 50% sale! I've never shopped there before because I was under the impression that their market was an older crowd, but I really like their styles and price point.

I also bought a pair of black slacks at The Limited that I really like because they are straight leg. I made a mistake Wet Seal today that I want you guys to avoid. I know that most of the merchandise at Wet Seal goes on sale quickly. I spotted this denim dress last week that I loved but I didn't want to pay that much for it. This weekend, they were having a $15 dress sale, and though I didn't LOVE it on me after I tried it on, I got it anyway. Well, that was a bad idea because I battled in my head about that dress for several hours after. If I couldn't decide whether I really liked it or not that means that it was going to get home and sit in my closet unworn. I took it back. If you have ANY doubt about something when you're buying it, you should probably just move on. If it's still weighing on you afterwhile, then go back and get it! There is so much stuff in this world to buy that I am positive you will find something you love...

I'm really excited about my upcoming portfolio shoot. I've been finding so many signature pieces over the past month or so in preparation for it. My wardrobe is finally getting to the point where I like and wear everything that I own. I was so inspired after shopping today that I came home and played around with my clothes for hours.

My new favorite thing to wear is this straw fedora. My new signature. :-)
